Call for Workshops

Ph0wn 2027 is looking for enthusiast speakers to present free hands-on-labs on hacking/ security/ embedded systems.

  • Date: Friday 12 March, 2027 afternoon.
  • Venue: Onsite, EURECOM, Sophia Antipolis, France
  • Duration: From 2 to 6 hours.
  • Language: French or English (your choice). Please only select English if your English is good.
  • Audience size: Let us know how many participants you can reasonably handle. We expect something between 10 and 60. The most usual headcount is 20-25.

Ph0wn workshops are mostly hands-on labs. Very few slides, but lots of exercises.

Ideas of topics

Ph0wn covers security and hacking topics for embedded systems, mobile phones, connected objects, industrial objects, artificial intelligence and miscellaneous platforms (satellite, retro-computing).

Any workshop on legal tools, languages, methodology to develop, hack, test, repair, investigate those systems is perfect for us (as long as it remains legal !).

Examples :

  • CTF emulation with Qiling
  • Setting up a hardware key to secure your Linux session and GPG keys
  • How to use a logic analyzer
  • Developing your first quick app on a VR headset

We also welcome workshops on more miscellaneous topics like astronomy, 8-bit music, repairing mechanical pinballs, astromech robots etc.

Compensations for the Speaker(s)

Workshops take a lot of time to prepare, setup and test. We truly appreciate it and thank all our speakers warmly. However, due to limited sponsorship, we are usually unable to cover any speaker expenses. If your case is special (e.g unemployed, limited resources), let us know, and we’ll do all we can to fund you.

If you are selected, we will

  • Advertize your workshop
  • If relevant, promote your company, website, tool
  • Find a nice Goodie for you (very often, it’s an electronic device)
  • VIP Status: we invite you to Ph0wn’s social event and CTF

Important: Ph0wn workshops are free for all attendees. You are not authorized to sell anything during your workshop.

Submission

Please send us an email in English or in French with:

  • First Name, Last Name, Email address
  • Title of your workshop
  • Description: a paragraph, or slides, or a github repo are fine
  • Expected duration, audience size and skills (level: beginner? intermediate? advanced?)
  • Necessary equipment: important if you expect us to supply something, or participants.

Call for Demos

Ph0wn 2027 is looking for 5-minute visual live demos on hacking/ security/ embedded systems topics, to show to the Ph0wn audience. This is how it works:

  1. The speaker sets up all necessary equipment. The room is available 1 hour an advance. We provide a video projector and Internet access, if you need anything else, please ask us if we have that.

  2. The speaker shows the demo. It’s a live demo : s/he may interact with devices, or even ask the audience to do so. The demo lasts 5 minutes maximum. Like for Rump Sessions, the demo is cut in the middle if goes beyond its time slot.

  3. If the demo is shorter than 5 minutes, the remaining time may be used to answer Questions from the Audience.

  • Date: Friday 12 March, 2027 afternoon.
  • Venue: Onsite, EURECOM, Sophia Antipolis, France
  • Language: English is preferred, but French is possible too.

Conditions

  • Commercial pitches are forbidden.
  • We don’t accept demos of products/tools you are selling commercially. The only exception is for Open Source tools.
  • We prefer live demos to videos. If your live demo fails repeatedly (it happens…), a backup video is nevertheless a good idea.
  • Your presentation is free to attend. You will not receive any compensation, except glory, our warm thanks and a guaranteed seat to the CTF.
  • It’s a demo not a slide deck! We will cut any presentation with more than 2 slides.

Topics

Acceptable topics are the same as for workshops. We also welcome failure cases and fun demos (they must remain respectful and legal - see Ph0wn’s Code of Conduct).

Examples:

  • How you solved CTF challenge xyz
  • How you designed a 3D printed trophy

Submission

Please send us an email and explain shortly what you want to demo.
